Lose Weight Fast with the Military Diet

Some of the fittest men and women are those in the military. Thus, it makes perfect sense for a diet plan to be named after them. Unlike being in the military though, the military diet plan does not need you to participate in strenuous exercises, use vibration machine technology or run with weights. The Military Diet is a three day diet aimed at people who want to lose weight fast. It claims that you can lose upto ten kilos in a week. The diet may be short but it definitely isn’t easy to follow.
The military diet is based on low calorie foods that works together to jump start your weight loss. With frugal meals and no snacking allowed, hunger pangs are a normal side effect of the military diet. Be prepared to discipline yourself strictly if you want to follow the Military diet.
What to Eat
Begin the Military diet with a breakfast of a cup of tea of coffee, a slice of toast with peanut butter and half a grapefruit. Avoid artificial sweeteners and cream in your coffee. If it must be sweet try using stevia. Lunch on day one is another slice of toast with half a cup of tuna and a cup of tea or coffee. End the day with 3 ounces of any meat, a cup of green beans, half a banana and a small apple. For desert, treat yourself with a cup of vanilla ice cream. This puts your total calorie intake for day one at 1400 calories.
Replace the drinks and peanut butter with a boiled egg and half a banana to go with your toast for breakfast on the second day. Have another boiled egg, a cup of cottage cheese and 5 saltine crackers for lunch. For dinner, have two hot dogs-without the buns, half a cup of carrots, a cup of broccoli and half a banana. End the day with half a cup of vanilla ice cream and you’ve completed your quota of 1200 calories for the day.
On day 3 the military diet allows an calorie intake of only 1100 calories. Have a slice of cheddar cheese with 5 saltine crackers and a small apple for breakfast. For lunch, have an egg-boiled or cooked any way you like with a slice of plain toast. The last dinner of the Military diet is half a banana, a cup of tuna and a cup of vanilla ice cream.
Along with this drink copious amounts of water. Avoid both fresh juices and packaged juices. Black coffee has less than 5 calories and so a cup or two is permissible as long as you cut out those 5 calories elsewhere. While vegetable can be eaten raw, steamed or boiled, it is best to grill or bake the meat. Use salt, pepper, lemon juice or garlic powder to season your food. You can also use fresh garlic, cilantro, red chilli flakes and extremely small amounts of mustard and hot sauce.
Don’t let food allergies and taste be a factor to prevent you from following the military diet. The diet is flexible in terms of ingredients as long as the calorific values are maintained. For example, tune can easily be substituted with a measured quantity of almonds with one can of tuna being equivalent to about 20 almonds. Grapefruits should not be substituted with oranges but may be substituted by half a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water. Peanut butter can be substituted with almond, pumpkin or soy butter or hummus. If you don’t like bread, replace it with a tortilla or two rice cakes or 1/4th cup of yoghurt with half a teaspoon of flax seeds. If you are vegetarian, use lentils, beans, tofu or portobello mushrooms instead of meat and hot dogs.
The military diet can be repeated on a weekly basis with a break of four days in between. You can eat whatever you like in these four days though the Military diet does advise a diet of 1500 calories per day to be followed during this off period. Additional snacking and alcohol is strictly forbidden in the military diet. You can however break down a meal into smaller portions and eat at shorter intervals.
